Passenger numbers on Allegro trains rose by more than a quarter in April 2019
In April 2019, the St. Petersburg-Helsinki Allegro high-speed trains carried 43,900 passengers, an increase of 27% on April 2018. From January to April 2019, the Allegro services were used by 154,600 passengers, 21% more than during the first four months of last year.
Since the launch of the international high-speed Allegro service between St. Petersburg and Helsinki on 12 December 2010, the trains have carried 3.43 million people.
Russian Railways has constantly increased the attractiveness of Allegro trains to passengers by the likes of flexible fares, various marketing initiatives and the appointment of special twin trains with double the usual number of carriages when demand is higher than usual, as well as by putting tickets on sale up to 90 days before the train departure.
Passengers can obtain more detailed information about the Allegro timetable and fares from railway ticket offices, the official website of Russian Railways and the RZD Passengers mobile app and also book tickets at these points of sale.
When selling tickets, settlements are made in roubles set at the rate set by the Central Bank of Russia on the date the tickets are booked.
