Timetable at train stations to be announced in local time
To improve the quality of passenger service, the RZD holding at all stations and stops on the Russian Railways network is changing the procedure for informing passengers about arrival and departure times of long-distance trains.
From now on, information on train arrival and departure times will be displayed on electronic boards, platform signposts and station clocks and announced through the PA system in local time. Previously, times were always indicated in Moscow time.
The new system will come into force on 1 August, 2018.
At present, Russian Railways is carrying out technical work to change the current information system.
In May 2018, similar changes were made to the procedure for booking train tickets for trains operated by the RZD holding departing from 1 August 2018.
Previously, train arrivals and departures were shown according to Moscow time on railway ticket forms, but since 4 May (90 days before 1 August) both Moscow time and local time have been shown.
Information about local arrival and departure times will also be displayed on the information boards on the trains.
Thus, starting from 1 August 2018, information on the timetables for both long-distance and suburban trains will be displayed on all information carriers of the RZD holding according to local time in the 11 time zones of the Russian Federation.
