Timetable at train stations to be announced in local time
To improve the quality of passenger service, the RZD holding at all stations and
stops on the Russian Railways network is changing the procedure for informing passengers
about arrival and departure times of long-distance trains.
From now on, information on train arrival and departure times will be displayed
on electronic boards, platform signposts and station clocks and announced through
the PA system in local time. Previously, times were always indicated in Moscow time.
The new system will come into force on 1 August, 2018.
At present, Russian Railways is carrying out technical work to change the current
In May 2018, similar changes were made to the procedure for booking train tickets
for trains operated by the RZD holding departing from 1 August 2018.
Previously, train arrivals and departures were shown according to Moscow time on
railway ticket forms, but since 4 May (90 days before 1 August) both Moscow time and
local time have been shown.
Information about local arrival and departure times will also be displayed on the
information boards on the trains.
Thus, starting from 1 August 2018, information on the timetables for both long-distance
and suburban trains will be displayed on all information carriers of the RZD holding
according to local time in the 11 time zones of the Russian Federation.
