Russian Railways’ President Oleg Belozerov holds conference call on the Company's
Analysing production figures from January to August 2017, Russian Railways’
President Oleg Belozerov noted that tariff freight turnover had increased by 6.9%
compared to the same period last year. Taking into account empty runs of privately
owned wagons, turnover was up by 6.5%. Total freight loading volumes amounted to 833.5
million tons, 3% more than last year.
Over 8 months from January to August 2017, more than 735 million passengers travelled,
9.3% more than last year. Suburban passenger numbers increased by 10.5%, while long-distance
passengers fell by 0.7%. Passenger turnover decreased by 2.3%, with long-distance
passenger turnover falling by 4%, but it increased by 3.1%.in the suburban segment.
The President of OJSC Russian Railways noted that 10 September 2017 was the first
anniversary of the launch of passenger traffic on the Moscow Central Ring.
“The demand for this new service is growing steadily - almost 98 million
passengers have been transported since the MCC began operations,” said Oleg
