Heads of Russia - France Business Cooperation Council and RUIE discuss cooperation
Oleg Belozerov and Frederic Sanchez, the co-chairs of the Russia - France Business Cooperation Council, as well as Alexander Shokhin, the President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP), summed up the results of cooperation in 2019 and outlined plans for next year.
The parties praised highly the cooperation between the two business associations this year. It was noted in particular that the main themes of the measures and events were innovation and digitalisation as key factors in improving competitiveness in the current economic situation.
During the meeting, the parties agreed on the need to improve the regulatory environment for all entrepreneurs, regardless of their nationality. One proposal was to establish a more efficient and permanent mechanism for dealing with emerging issues with the RUIE and MEDEF International, a non-profit private-funded organisation created in 1989 by MEDEF, the French Business Confederation.
“Mechanisms for dealing with such issues already exist at the level of the Russian government, as well as at the level of the Ministry of Economic Development, but it is also important to work together with state agencies to monitor constantly the initiatives and problems of French business in Russia and Russian companies in France. We also need to organise the rapid exchange of information with the involvement of the authorities in order to consider the issues and find solutions quickly,” said Oleg Belozerov.
Also during the meeting to intensify cooperation through the Business Cooperation Council, the parties considered proposals for a plan of events during 2020, including business forums on digitalisation, innovation, conserving resources and ecology, mutual support for business missions, and the organisation of a business dialogue at the 2020 St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which will take place between 3 and 6 June next year.
