Russian delegation discusses prospects for rail transport development with Armenian government
Russia’s Deputy Transport Minister Vladimir Tokarev and the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board Oleg Belozerov of Russian Railways have met with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikola Pashinyan. The meeting took place in the Armenian capital Yerevan.
The sides discussed the further development of Armenia’s rail network and, in particular, the normalisation of the work at South Caucasus Railways CJSC.
Oleg Belozerov stressed that Russian Railways fulfills all its obligations under the Concession Agreement with Armenia, investing almost $250 million of its own funds in the country’s railways.
As the CEO and Chairman of Russian Railways also noted, the main condition for the implementation of the project and the continuation of the rail infrastructure’s modernisation is to resolve all the controversial issues in the spirit of constructive cooperation and with the participation of the Armenian government.
