Loading volumes on the network of Russian Railways increased by 0.3% in October 2018

According to the latest figures, loading on the network of Russian Railways in October 2018 amounted to 108.4 million tons*, 0.3% more than the same month last year.

Freight turnover in October 2018 increased by 3.2% compared to October 2017 and amounted to 222.2 billion tariff ton-kilometres*. Freight turnover taking into account empty wagon runs in October 2018 rose by 3.4% and amounted to 283.4 billion ton-km*.

According to the latest figures, loading volumes during the ten months from January to October 2018 amounted to 1.0734 billion tons*, which is 2.7% more than in the same period last year.

The railways shipped the following categories of freight between January and October 2018.* Figures in brackets show the percentage change compared to January-October 2017:

coal - 310.6 million tons (+5,5%); • coke - 9.2 million tons (-1.4%); • oil and petroleum products - 195.6 million tons (+0.6%); • iron and manganese ores - 96.3 million tons (+5.5%); • ferrous metals - 65 million tons (+8.8%); • ferrous metal scrap - 13.3 million tons (+1.7%);

chemical and mineral fertilisers - 48.9 million tons (+3.5%); • cement - 22 million tons (-6.7%); • timber - 38.3 million tons (+4.6%); • grain - 22.3 million tons (+30.8%); • construction materials - 106 million tons (-6.6%); • non-ferrous ores and sulphur feedstock - 16.9 million tons (-0.5%); • chemicals and soda - 21.9 million tons (+1.4%); • industrial raw materials and moulded materials - 29.6 million tons (-3.4%.)

Freight turnover from the beginning of 2018 amounted to 2,151.2 billion tariff ton-km, an increase of 4.4%.* Freight turnover taking into account empty wagon runs rose to 2,737.9 billion ton-km, up by 4.2%*.

* Indicators of loading and freight turnover for 2018 include freight volumes carried on the infrastructure of Joint Stock Company Yakutia Railways, where Russian Railways is the carrier.
