Russian Railways begins to dispatch trains to Sochi with essential goods for the region

On 24 October 2018, 230 metres of the track on the Grechesky-Krivenkovskaya stretch were washed away during bad weather.

Railway staff responded quickly to the emergency situation and undertook all the necessary measures to eliminate the consequences in a short time.

A large amount of work was done to repair the equipment and devices needed for the power supply and communications and the alarm and blocking systems. The contact network supports were repaired and a new rail-sleeper grid was laid.

At 08:30 on 26 October, the Company’s staff restored the railway bridge on the Shepsi-Vodopadny stretch, which had been damaged by flooding in the Tuapse district of Krasnodar Territory and led to trains running on just one track.

As a result of the repair, trains could resume services on the Adler-Tuapse section and trains that had been delayed in the vicinity of Tuapse station were able to return to Sochi, where passengers can use alternative means of transport or stay in hotels until services are fully restored.

At 01:20 on 27 October, trains also began services along a single track between Tuapse and Goryachy Klyuch stations in the Krasnodar Region of North Caucasus Railways.

Trains are currently running according to the normal timetable. Railway workers are implementing all measures to eliminate the consequences of the bad weather in the shortest possible time.

Freight trains have begun delivering essential products for the region along the Goryachy Klyuch - Adler line.

The first freight train with aircraft fuel, petrol, flour and foodstuffs has already arrived at Adler station, while five freight trains have reached Tuapse station.

In the next few days it is planned to incorporate into the timetable freight trains which have already been formed.
