Passenger numbers on the network owned by Russian Railways up by 3.2% in 7 months of 2018

According to the latest figures, more than 105.2 million passengers were transported on the infrastructure owned by Russian Railways in July 2018, 1.8% more than in the same month last year Suburban passenger numbers amounted to 91.9 million, an increase of 1.2%, while long-distance passengers increased to 13.3 million, up 5.6%.

Passenger turnover in July 2018 amounted to 16.5 billion passenger-kilometres, 2.8% more than in July 2017. Suburban passenger turnover rose to 3.1 billion passenger-km, an increase of 1.1%, while long-distance turnover stood at 13.4 billion passenger-km, up 3.2%.

During January-July 2018, a total of 653.5 million passengers travelled, up by 3.2% compared to January-July 2017, with 62.8 million passengers making journeys on long-distance trains, an increase of 8.6, whereas suburban numbers were up slightly to 590.7 million, an increase of 2.6%.

Passenger turnover on the network of Russian Railways since the beginning of 2018 was up by 5% compared to the level of the previous year and amounted to 72.5 billion pass-km, including suburban passenger traffic at 18.6 billion pass-km, an increase of 2.2%, while long distance trains stood at 53.9 billion pass-km, a rise of 6%.

In the seven months of 2018 so far, the Moscow Central Ring (MCC) transported more than 70.7 million passengers, including about 10.2 million passengers who travelled on the Lastochka electric trains on the MCC in July.

The record number of passengers on one day since the MCC was launched was on 16 May 2018, when 449, 818 people travelled.
