During 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ passenger movement at a number of stations to be changed

From May 25 to July 25 2018, the movements of passengers at 31 railway stations in the 11 cities hosting the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ will be changed.

The temporary measures are necessary due to the increased need for transport security. Each visitor entering the stations will have to undergo a security control procedure.

To reduce the inconvenience to passengers as much as possible, additional screening equipment has been installed at the stations, including stationary metal detectors and X-ray units, which will increase the capacity to an average of 50%.

During the temporary measures, the station complexes will also be equipped with new navigation signs.

The main changes concerning passenger movements will affect Kursk, Kazan, Kiev and Leningrad stations in Moscow, the stations in Saransk, Volgograd and Yekaterinburg and at Olympic Park in Sochi and Kaliningrad-South.

For example, exits to the platforms from the tunnel junction connecting the station and Kazakova Street will be closed at Kursk railway station in Moscow. Passengers boarding trains must pass through an entry checkpoint at the station building and use one of the two underground passages.

More than 3,000 railway station personnel have received additional training regarding client-oriented international protocol and foreign language training.

In training employees, separate attention was paid to issues of transport security and preparation for work with inspection equipment.

In addition, more than 2,000 city volunteers will be on hand to help train station staff in ensuring a comfortable stay of passengers during the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™.

OJSC Russian Railways asks passengers and visitors of railway stations to understand the temporary restrictions, comply with the requirements for ensuring transport security and arrive at the stations in advance.
