Sales of electronic tickets for long-distance trains increased by a quarter in October
Passengers booked more than 4 million electronic tickets for long-distance trains
through the Internet in October 2017, 25% more than in October 2016 and 47.5% of the
total number of tickets sold that month.
In the 10 months of 2017 to the end of October, passengers bought more than 43.5
million electronic tickets through the Internet, 16% more than in the same period
last year. Electronic tickets accounted for 45% of the total number of seats sold
in the 10 months.
Passengers can book electronic tickets without being charged any commission on
the official website of Russian Railways and by using the RZD Passengers app.
In October 2017 alone, more than 260,000 e-tickets were issued through the app
and more than 2 million since the beginning of the year.
The RZD Passengers app also enables travellers to make enquires about train timetables
and their previously purchased tickets and to track their bonus account.
The app also provides additional options to passengers, such as how to navigate
the buildings of the capital's train stations and displaying announcements about changes
to the train timetable.
Passengers can obtain more detailed information on the rules for purchasing electronic
tickets on the official website of Russian Railways.
