Shipment volumes of Pacific seafood by accelerated trains increases 1.4 times in first three quarters of 2017

RU EN

Russian Railways is increasing the volume of transportation of Pacific seafood by accelerated trains.

The Company shipped 120 accelerated refrigerated trains loaded with Pacific seafood weighing more than 228,600 tons from the stations of Far Eastern Railways in January-September of this year.

These figures are up sharply from 2016, when the Company dispatched 89 accelerated trains weighing 158,300 tons of fish during the same period.

Accelerated refrigerated trains are formed at Cape Churkin and Ugolnaya stations, where wagons from other stations in Primorsky Krai are consolidated.

These trains take about 10 days to reach Russia’s central regions, which is especially important given the limited refrigeration capacity where the cargo flows are formed.

In January-September 2017, a total of 432,700 tons of fish were dispatched from Russia’s Far Eastern Railway stations, 3.6% less than last year"s figure.
