RU EN

On 5 May 2017, Russian Railways' President Oleg Belozerov held a conference call, during which he congratulated all Company employees on the 72nd anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and presented state awards for labour achievements to a number of Company staff on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation.

"A whole epoch has passed, but we shall always remember and honour the defenders of the Motherland. For us, the Company's employees, a particularly important and unforgettable lesson of the Great Patriotic War remains the feats of our railway workers," said Oleg Belozerov.

The Company President recalled that since 15 March 2017, tickets have been issued free of charge to disabled people and war veterans, as well as to one accompanying person, for trips from 1 to 10 May.

Over 1,400 such tickets have already been issued, which is one quarter more than the level of the previous year.

"The May holidays require special attention from employees on the passenger side because it is a kind of dress rehearsal of the most critical period, namely the summer season," said the Company President.

Oleg Belozerov also drew the attention of managers at the railways that they needed to prepare for a major large-scale sporting event, the Confederations Cup.

On 21 April 2017, registration and booking of electronic tickets for additional trains were opened for spectators of the Cup's matches. More than 1,500 electronic tickets have been issued to date.

After the conference call, a meeting was held at which veterans were honoured and flowers laid at the memorial plaque for railway workers and employees of the central apparatus of the Ministry of Railways who died at the front during the Great Patriotic War.
