“Russia through a train window” exhibition to open on 22 February in Geneve.
"Russia through a train window" is a joint project of Russian Railways and the photographer Anton Lange. The idea behind the project is to present a modern view of Russia, as seen through a traveler’s lens. The exhibition will open in the United Nations Office at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, and is timed to coincide with the 72nd session of the Inland Transport Committee of the UN Economic Commission for Europe. During the session, the exhibition will serve as part of the cultural programme for conference guests and participants, as well as journalists, staff of consulates located in Geneva, and visitors to the Palais des Nations. The exhibition will feature more than 60 photographs taken during the expeditions of the project’s creative group, led by Anton Lange, through the most evocative and unique areas of Russia – Siberia, the Far East, Sakhalin island, the Caucasus, the Urals, the northwest, Lake Baikal, the Volga River, and other locations – from 2006 to 2009. Each image will be accompanied by the photographer’s comments in three languages - Russian, English, and French.
RZD Vice President Avtandil Gorgiladze and project creator Anton Lange will be taking part in the opening ceremony.
Journalists are warmly welcomed to attend the exhibition opening and the press briefing.
The exhibition will open on 22 February at 18:00 in the UN Office at the Palais des Nations (8-14, avenue de la Paix – 1211 Geneve 10, entrance 40, 2nd storey) and will run until 12 March.
Further details on the exhibition can be found on the project’s website: www.fotorussia.su/en.
